The Aboriginal Community Connections Project (ACCP) is designed to:
- Engage Aboriginal communities in the Campbell River region in discussions on priorities for ensuring the health and well being of their children and families.
- Explore and secure traditional and non-traditional partnerships to work on addressing priorities.
- Maintain an Aboriginal table (the Aboriginal Infant Development Program table) to explore issues concerning Aboriginal early childhood development.
- Maintain communications with Aboriginal communities to receive guidance on strategies to address priorities and provide updates on projects.
- Support a part-time Aboriginal Coordinator position to help progress ACCP initiatives.
ACCP welcomes and appreciates information and guidance from all Aboriginal communities in the region and at all levels of leadership. Projects include the Aboriginal Elders DVD project, early learning literacy books, family dinners and research on the Aboriginal Hospital birth experience.
