To provide education, information and connections for women who need extra support during pregnancy, birth and the early stages of parenting.
We offer:
- of a Registered Dietitian
- Services of a Registered Nurse
- Free prenatal vitamins and supplements
- Help with access to healthy food, including weekly
- $10 food vouchers
- Weekly prenatal drop-in groups
- Weekly postnatal drop-in groups
- Support with lifestyle changes, if families need help
- getting off drugs or alcohol
- Healthy cooking instruction
- 'Healthy living' walking and swimming groups
Our goals in the Baby's Best Chance Program are:
- Infants with healthy birth weights
- Participants who have knowledge of healthy infant feeding
- Improved nutrition for participants
- Improved physical and mental health for participants through the support of staff and other parents in the program
- Improved knowledge of normal infant developmental milestones/stages
- Improved knowledge of support services in the community
Campbell River Family Services also offers continuing services for parents after babies are born, including 'Creating Healthy Families', family play groups, Dad's support groups and parenting courses (Triple-P, LIFE)
